The Island Golden is a private island located east of St. Raphael beachfront Dramont. This rocky island, composed of red rocks (porphyry), is topped by a tower the medieval look that is said to have inspired Hergé's Tintin The island black . Seen from the sea to the left of the tower, a rock, like a gorilla in profile, the album also recalls Hergé.
In 1944, part of the Provence landings took place opposite the island on the beach Dramont.
In 1961, the island was sold to François Bureau, a former officer Navy, who renovated the tower and lived until his death in 1994. The island still belongs to the family and became a popular site as part of the practice of Diving . When you see the flag, the tower is inhabited. The flag shows the logo Denis Brothers (DF), a company which employed the woman's family of Francois Bureau.
